Tolman Dance Studio Reunion

Get your tickets for the Tolman Dance Studio Reunion on Saturday, October 8!

Does the instruction “Slow-Slow-Quick-Quick-Slow” sound familiar?  Do you remember the dance “Parachute Jump”? How about the names of Arthur and Phyllis Tolman? The Tolmans provided ballroom dance instruction for the youth and adults in 15 communities within the Pioneer Valley and general Western Massachusetts region from the mid-1950s to early 1970s. Former students of the Tolmans from the Palmer area have been in contact with the Tolmans, who currently reside in Florida. A reunion of the many Tolmans’ dance students is being planned and will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at PHCC. The Tolmans will be traveling back to New England to join us in person for this special nostalgic event. This is an invitation to all who were fortunate enough to have taken lessons with the Tolmans. Please join us in going back in time with Arthur and Phyllis!

2 years there and still can’t dance a lick — maybe they should have triaged and put me in the CDC (can’t dance – critical) ward!

The first dance I learned at the lessons in Palmer was the chacha and I was hooked. Dancing lessons with the Tolmans was such fun. A group of us from Brimfield–Steve Morris, Jimmy Klingler, Ann Gregory, Gifford Landen, me and my brother, Peter Weston went to Palmer every Saturday night for lessons and then to the Friendly’s
afterwards for sundaes. Enjoyed the dance parties we had, including a Charleston party, dressed as flappers (the girls that is).
